The International Political Economy and Environmental Politics group led by Professor Thomas Bernauer is offering a fully funded position for a Doctoral Student in Environmental Politics. The preferred starting date is June - August 2024. The funding is for up to four years.
The International Political Economy and Environmental Politics group is based both at the Center for Comparative and International Studies (CIS) and the Institute of Science, Technology and Policy (ISTP). Its research and teaching focus on examining the role of citizens and consumers as well as national socio-economic and political conditions in providing solutions to environmental and economic problems.
You will contribute to a Swiss NSF funded research project that examines how lower income countries deal with problems of air pollution. The project focuses on how government, interest group, and citizen interests and behavior affects efforts to find solutions in this policy area that are both effective in public health and environmental terms as well as politically feasible.
You should hold a research-oriented Master degree in Political Science, Economics, Sociology, or Psychology and be familiar with political science and political economy concepts and theories as well as quantitative empirical methods. An excellent command of English is essential and experience with survey and experimental methodologies will be an asset.
