The European Politics Research Group (Prof. Frank Schimmelfennig) at ETH Zurich invites applications for 1-2 doctoral and/or 1-2 postdoctoral researcher positions. The positions are for three years (with some flexibility) and to be filled as soon as possible.
The positions are connected to our current research focus on boundary formation, border politics, and polity building in Europe. They are funded by an ongoing ERC-Advanced Grant project (EUROBORD, https://eurobord.ch) and an upcoming research project on "Reconfiguring the EU's External Boundaries".
The research tasks include: data collection and analysis on European Union boundary rules and resources; quantitative studies of boundary change in the European Union; and comparative case studies of boundary reconfiguration in response to boundary shocks and crises. The positions leave room for independent research in the thematic domain of the projects.
