The Group of Sustainable Agroecosystems is seeking to hire a Biogeochemical Modeler for a post-doctoral research position.
The incumbent will conduct modeling exercises for the prediction of greenhouse gas emissions at the regional scale and mechanistic hypotheses generation. Within the regional greenhouse gas emission assessments, the work will be focused on estimates of C sequestration and N2O emissions from different land uses and different agricultural practices and different future climate scenarios in Kenya, Switzerland and some other countries around the world. Experience with process-based soil organic matter models (e.g. DayCent, ECOSSE, DNDC) is highly desirable. The incumbent is expected to supervise M.S. students. The position will initially be for 1 year, but can be extended up to 4 years depending on performance.
Suitable candidates should have a Ph.D. in biogeochemistry with a strong background in soil science and simulation modeling. Experience in computer programming (e.g., Fortran, C, Matlab, R, etc.) is required.
We look forward to receiving your online application including a CV, application letter and the names of three references before October 15, 2020. Starting date: Immediately or by agreement. Please note that we exclusively accept applications submitted through our online application portal.
