YOUR TASKS

  • At least 70% of your assignment will be spent on academic research in the field of the representation theory of Lie superalgebras and Lie supergroups within the research unit Foundations Lab: Clifford Research Group.
  • You will counsel doctoral students in the Clifford Research Group.
  • You will assist in teaching activities of the departmet at the Bachelor’s level. This concerns basic mathematics courses aimed at students in engineering or architecture and taught by members of Foundations Lab.
  • If you want, you can become lecturer-in-charge of the course Function Spaces (third year of the Bachelor in Mathematics).
  • You will supervise a PhD student in the Clifford Research Group working on Operator Kantor Pairs.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • You hold a degree of Doctor of Science: Mathematics or Doctor of Mathematical Engineering, or an equivalent degree. The degree requirement needs to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment.
  • For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted.
  • You have already conducted research within the field of of representation theory of Lie superalgebras and Lie supergroups, and you have experience working with diagram algebras.
  • You have distinguished yourself as a promising researcher in your doctorate.
  • You may present relevant scientific publications in (inter)national peer-reviewed academic journals that are widely disseminated.
  • You are interested in mentoring students during their academic training.
  • You have excellent teaching and communication skills.
  • You can immediately start teaching mathematics courses of the department to large groups of students in Dutch. The required language knowledge is Dutch at level B2 or higher.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

  • We offer you a temporary appointment for a period of 3 years. The appointment cannot be renewed.
  • Even if you have already been appointed earlier (whether or not at another university and whether or not in the same field of discipline) in a first term of up to 3 years, you can apply. The second appointment does not have to be immediately connected to a first term.
  • Your appointment will start on 1 November 2024 at the earliest.
  • Your remuneration will be determined according to salary scale AAP5. More information about our salary scales.

  • For diplomas awarded in the UK before January 31st of 2020, a certificate of equivalence is not required.
