Wildlife Health Ghent (WHG) at Ghent University is seeking an exceptional Postdoctoral Researcher to lead a project investigating cutting-edge approaches to unravel early host-pathogen interactions between amphibians and chytrid fungi. You will join world-leading researchers in the field of amphibian-chytrid pathogenesis while being able to draw on the facilities and skills of other researchers in the group. WHG comprises a highly collaborative group of researchers, committed to producing high-impact science in a friendly and supportive environment.
WHG is dedicated to advancing our understanding of pathogenesis of wildlife diseases in order to inform mitigation strategies . One of the research lines studies different aspects of disease ecology and epidemiology of infections with the chytrid fungus Bsal in European salamanders and newts.
We are hiring one enthusiastic, ambitious, early career postdoc whom we can offer a three year position at WHG in the framework of an ERC Advanced Grant “GLOSSI, Targeting skin glycosylation patterns to protect threatened salamanders from disease driven extinction”.
Your job
The successful candidate will hold a minimum of a PhD in biomedical molecular biology, biotechnology or an aligned discipline, with demonstrated excellence in cellular and molecular (patho) physiology and a strong publication record in reputable peer-reviewed journals. The position will be supervised by Professor An Martel and Professor Frank Pasmans. We anticipate ample opportunity for you to develop additional research questions that align with your skill sets and interests.
