The Group Thermal energy technology is looking for a

PHD STUDENT (F/M/D) EU HORIZON MSCA‑DOCTORATE NETWORK CAVIPRO: MODELLING OF DIFFUSION AND REACTIONS OF HYDROXYL RADICALS GENERATED BY CAVITY COLLAPSE

The position will be available from 1 August 2024. The employment contract is limited until 31 July 2027. The place of work is Dresden‑Rossendorf. The working time amounts to 39 h/week.

YOUR TASKS

  • Characterize the impact of cavitation – vortex – turbulence interaction on cavitation (DNS with the parallel, hierarchic code PHASTA) on a scale of tens of bubbles
  • Quantify the impact of related physical mechanisms on the concentration and diffusion rate of OH radicals with DNS
  • Quantify interactions of diffusion and reactions of OH radicals considering the cavitation – vortex – turbulence interaction for different hydraulic conditions

YOUR PROFILE

  • Completed university studies (Master/​Diploma) in the field of process engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or comparable fields
  • Knowledge in cavitation, thermodynamics, hydrodynamics, phase change processes
  • Willingness to work on numerical and experimental problems
  • Very good team work and communication skills
  • Very good English language skills (written and spoken)
