Senior Research Associate (f/m/d)

as soon as possible.

Your tasks

As a senior research associate (DE: wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter) in the Department of Automation Engineering, you will be expected to:

• pursue the development of scientific skills by the development of new research areas and courses or a habilitation (a postdoctoral degree in Germany)
• perform research in the areas of discrete-event systems, smart homes and factories, big data, and advanced control methods (the candidate need not have previously done research in all of the above areas, but must express a willingness to consider them in his research)
• teach courses and laboratories, including the development of new courses in the relevant research areas
• supervise research, bachelor’s, and master’s theses
• apply for grants in the appropriate research areas
• provide scientific support for the mission of the university

Your profile

For being part of the selection process is needed:

• an excellent university diploma or master and an excellent doctorate, preferably with a specialisation in the relevant research areas. Candidates who are close to completing their doctorate are encouraged to apply.

Following competences are desirable:

• an excellent understanding of (at least two of): discrete-event systems, smart homes or factories, system identification, process modelling, and advanced control methods
• good programming skills and very good knowledge of MATLAB and Microsoft Office
• excellent English skills. Knowledge of German would be an asset
• a motivation to work in a collaborative environment
• the ability to work independently and set your own objectives within the broader direction of the department

Please provide evidence of the qualifications required for the job by certificates and references.

In your application, please provide a copy (or link to a freely available copy) of your doctoral thesis or two of your papers (which should be at least six-pages long). Please include copies of your doctoral certificate (if present), your transcripts, and your curriculum vitæ.

It is anticipated that the job interviews will be held in the first half of April 2024.

The position is not suitable for part-time employment.
