Job description

We are looking for a research engineer for the Affinity Proteomics-Stockholm facility at the Science for Life Laboratory in (Solna https://www.scilifelab.se/facilities/affinity-proteomics/).

The tasks will include the analysis of body fluids with a focus on protein biomarkers for the characterization of diseases and the development of immunological analysis methods.  The work will be carried out in an interdisciplinary, international academic environment and will include the use of proteomics methods to analyze human patient samples.  The daily work mostly involves laboratory work, both independently, in groups and with the support of robotics and analytical instruments. Design and conduct experiments according to established SOPs, data quality control and report are part of the duties.

The facility is part of the platform for Clinical Proteomics and Immunology at SciLifeLab and the group also belongs to the department for Affinity Proteomics within the Department of Protein Science at the School of Chemistry, Biotechnology and Health at KTH.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A graduate degree or an advanced level (higher education) in the research subject or equivalent competence. 
  • Practical laboratory experience with one or more of the following technologies: Luminex, Olink, Simoa Quanterix, ELISA.
  • The work environment is international. Good communication skills in English, both writing and speaking are required
  • As a person, you are: communicative; independent; clear; goal-and result-oriented and cooperative

Preferred qualifications

  • Master's degree in biology, biotechnology, biomedical laboratory science, biochemistry or related field. or equivalent competence.
  • Licentiate degree in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, biomedical laboratory science or related field
  • It is advantageous to have experience with statistical tools such as R, SPSS or Matlab, or equivalent programming in other programming languages
  • Creative and driven personality with an interest in basic science and method development
  • Very accurate record keeping, good collaboration skills and creative thinking.
  • Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equalityGood presentation skills in text and speech in Swedish since this is needed in your daily work.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal skills.
