Project title: CRID - Center of Research on Inflammatory Diseases.
Occupation area: Molecular Pharmacology
Principal Investigator: Prof. Dr. Fernando de Queiroz Cunha
Unit/Institution: Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirão Preto/USP – Ribeirão Preto
The Center of Research on Inflammatory Diseases – CRID, located at University of São Paulo in Ribeirão Preto, is taking applications for a 2 years postdoctoral research position to join a project financed by FAPESP. The highly motivated candidate should have taken his/her PhD degree within the past 4 years in one of the following areas: Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Cellular/Molecular Biology or similar fields. The candidate must be interested in the molecular pharmacology of G-protein Coupled Receptors (GPCRs) and human recombinant receptors heterologously expressed in cell systems. The candidate must be capable of performing research based on hypothesis involving aseptic culture cell, molecular biology, cellular transfections, radioligand binding, intracellular signalling assays and, identification, quantification and quantitative analysis of various agonism and antagonism types. Also, experience in the following methodologies are required: DNA extraction, mutagenesis, PCR, binding assays with fluorescent ligands and also with SNAP tag labelled receptors; knowledge about the innovative bioluminescence resonance energy transfer (BRET) technique used to perform binding assays; functional assays such as CRE-SPAP and pERK to study the cellular pathway activation and the interaction of agonists and antagonists with GPCRs; internalization assays involving SNAP tag, BIFc and HiBit/NanoLuc; confocal microscopy techniques; Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
Please submit your complete application by February 1st, 2019 (cover letter, CV and 2 recommendation letters) to Fernando Cunha email@example.com
Inflammatory diseases are a complex and heterogeneous group of diseases that affect more than 10% of the world population. The current options for treating inflammatory diseases are still limited and, in some cases ineffective due to limited understanding of their underlying mechanisms. The Center of Research on Inflammatory Diseases (CRID) performs integrative and translational research to generate scientific knowledge and to identify new therapeutic targets for inflammatory diseases. The overall objective of CRID is to identify, validate and target known and novel biological pathways involved in the induction and resolution of inflammation. The expected result is the development of innovative therapeutic strategies and drugs that can effectively target inflammatory diseases. The specific goal of the Center will be to advance the pathophysiological understanding of inflammatory diseases (infectious, autoimmune and vascular atherosclerotic) to accomplish the following: recognize and understand the mechanisms involved, such as molecular (genetic and intracellular signaling), immunological (innate and specific responses), pathological and pharmacological (experimental models) mechanisms; identify new biological targets to develop pharmacological (synthetic and from natural source) and immune (antibody) therapy tools; search for possible diagnostic markers and prognostic clues; and apply this knowledge to the design and synthesis of new molecules for treating inflammatory diseases.Lue lisää
