University Assistant Prae-Doc (all genders) 30 hours/week | limited to 4 years - Institute of Building and Industrial Construction

PhD Position in Meta-Science in Engineering. The Integral Building Technology Unit at the Institute of Building and Industrial Construction conducts interdisciplinary research at the interface of data science, energy & buildings, and social sciences. We offer a position as university assistant (prae-doc) limited to expected 4 years for 30 hours/week. The successful candidate will focus on meta-science topics such as reproducibility, citation impact, and disruption indices, particularly in the context of buildings and energy engineering. Expected start: December 2024. An extension to a full-time position (40 hours/week) from third-party funds of the Institute is possible and desired.

Tasks:

• Conducting research in Meta-Science applied to Engineering, with a focus on buildings and energy systems
• Writing a dissertation and scientific publications
• Collaboration on teaching tasks as well as examinations
• Participation in scientific events
• Assistance/Collaboration in organizational and administrative tasks

Your profile:

• Completion of a master's or diploma curriculum in one of these fields: Engineering, Physics, interdisciplinary master's programs
• Experience or strong interest in the following scientific fields: data science, energy & buildings, statistics, network analysis
• Excellent skills in English communication and writing
• Interest in supervision and working with students

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 2,684.10/month gross, 14 times/year for 30 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
