The successful candidate will be expected to represent the full scope of the interdisciplinary and internationally oriented field of Systematic Musicology in research and teaching. The tasks of the professorship include the training of students and doctoral candidates in the field of musicology as well as the contribution to the academic administration of the Institute of Musicology and the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. Participation in joint research activities of the University, the Faculty or the Fächergruppe will be expected as well as the successful acquisition and implementation of third-party-funded projects. You should be prepared to contribute to the Institute’s goal of broadening research perspectives, furthering digitization of research and teaching, and extending international collaboration.
You are an outstanding academic in the field of international music research. Your study background, publication record, and research plans are within or clearly relevant to one or more of the following areas: Cognitive Musicology, Psychology of Music, empirical Sociology of Music and/or empirical Aesthetics of Music (including Neu-roaesthetics of Music). Your work is inspired by recent debates in interdisciplinary music research and addresses key issues such as musicality, comparative research on music and language, or music and emotion. In particular you should integrate recent methodological developments such as modern statistical methods, neuro-scientific approaches and computer-based procedures, e.g. the application of artificial neural networks or the measurement and evaluation of event-related potentials.

As a rule, the teaching load comprises nine semester hours per week (i.e., two hours per week is one 90-minute course per semester).
