FELLOWSHIPS and SCHOLARSHIPS at University of São Paulo - Brazil
The Research Centre for Gas Innovation (RCGI), hosted at the University of São Paulo, is seeking for Postdoctoral and scholarships for PhD and Master students to work within the team of researchers in the fields of:
The positions available involve activities related to the development and solutions of relevant problems related to Natural Gas, Biogas, Hydrogen, CO2 abatement and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS). The RCGI has a team of leading experts on their respective areas of knowledge in order to offer innovative solutions to the technological problems related to gas as well as providing support for the improvement of energy policies in Brazil and worldwide.
See some of our opportunities:
Deal with future energy scenarios for Brazil assuming alternative Natural Gas demand perspectives in different economic segments such as industrial, residential, commercial, transportation and energy sector. The Post-doctoral candidate will interact with other researchers providing strong background on: (i) energy modelling technologies, (ii) cost assessment of energy technologies; and (iii) energy econometrics applied in the demand and supply side. Candidates must be familiar with energy simulation and optimization models.
The research topics are focused on two technologies: proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) and solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC). The main topics to be studied are:
i) anodes for efficient electro-oxidation of methane and/or more tolerant to gas fuel mixtures containing H2/CO;
ii) membranes for high-temperature PEMFC; e
iii) carbon resistant anode materials and catalytic layers for direct natural gas SOFC’s. The main objective is to advance the knowledge to expand the use of natural gas on fuel cells.
Concerns the development of new-generation thermal power plants, problems involving the transportation and storage of natural gas, biogas and hydrogen, as well as key topics for the success of those gases as premium fuel for the 21st century.
The candidate must have expertise in one or more of the following areas:
