We are looking for a Professor or Assistant / Associate Professor (tenure track) in Automation Engineering who wants to join us in building a new strategic area of expertise at the University of Turku. The professorship is positioned at the Faculty of Technology in the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, unit of Mechanical Engineering. Intended starting date is Aug 1st 2022, but is negotiable.
We are looking for candidates whose research and teaching track record is in automation engineering: process industry automation, product industry automation, marine and harbor automation.
This new professorship is founded by donations from City of Rauma and companies in Satakunta region. The versatile industry of the region, active in development and applications of automation, offers plenty of opportunities for co-operation in research and teaching.
The successful applicants may be appointed to a fixed-term associate / assistant professorship (tenure track) or a permanent full professorship depending on their previous academic merits.

We value, for example, broad academic, professional and societal networks, societal impact and outreach activities, experience in technology transfer, industry or entrepreneurial experience and multidisciplinary collaboration. For all positions, we require an active approach and genuine enthusiasm for teaching and the educational development. Experience and education in areas such as coaching, leadership or project management are also considered an asset. The applicant should position his/her research work in relation to the teaching and research directions in Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering.

The salary for this particular post is determined in accordance with the university salary system for teaching and research personnel (YPJ) when negotiating the employment contract. The position is subject to a six-month trial period.
