Are you looking for a new challenge as Engineering Manager of 9 Process Engineers? Our team supports the cutting-edge scientific research of imec, by managing and maintaining the quality of all the processes within our PVD tools, in both our 200mm and 300mm cleanrooms.

What you will do

You will lead the PVDPE (Physical Vapour Deposition Process Engineering) team that currently consists of 9 Process Engineers.This team is part of the FAB Engineering Department, and you will report to the DD (Deposition and Diffusion) group manager.  

It is expected that the PVD team will continue to grow significantly in the coming years to support the ongoing expansion of imec’s state-of-the-art 300mm cleanroom. 

As Engineering Manager, you will lead, coach, and develop a team of engineers to deliver exceptional operational performance. You will be responsible for ensuring safe and efficient operations, building a highly skilled and engaged team, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and representing the PVDPE organization in cross-functional collaborations. Through effective resource planning, talent development, and stakeholder management, you will help shape the long-term success of the team and its contribution to the fab's objectives.

This entails the following: 

  • Providing both day-to-day leadership and long-term strategic direction for the PVDPE team, ensuring balanced engineering expertise and sufficient coverage across shifts, tools, and technical disciplines. 
  • Fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive work environment, with a strong focus on the well-being and development of all team members.
  • Driving operational excellence by improving volume, cycle time, and quality performance, while ensuring the team consistently meets its key performance indicators (KPIs). 
  • Ensuring team members receive the appropriate training, coaching, and development opportunities required to perform their roles effectively and continue growing professionally. 
  • Acting as the representative and voice of the PVDPE team in cross-functional projects, interdepartmental initiatives, and stakeholder meetings, promoting strong collaboration across the organization.

Who you are 

  • You have obtained a Master in Science or in Engineering, or the equivalent of this by having extensive industrial experience in semiconductor process engineering, including PVD or other plasma deposition techniques 
  • You have strong industrial experience in semiconductor process engineering, including PVD or other plasma deposition techniques 
  • You are flexible and able to rapidly react to changes in circumstances by altering your personal and/or team priorities, often at very short notice 
  • You are highly driven with a focus on delivering high quality results on-time, and meeting your team’s KPIs 
  • You are a motivator who can create and maintain a proactive ‘can do’ attitude within the team 
  • Demonstrable people management experience is an asset, affinity to gain it is mandatory 
  • You are courteous and respectful in your communication with our internal and external partners, and actively try to find innovative and creative solutions 
  • You are comfortable working in a multi-cultural and multi-national environment 
  • You are able to balance the best interests of your team with those of the department and imec as a whole 
  • Given the international character of imec, you are fluent in both verbal and written English
