About the project

In2Circ aims to identify information needs for implementing circular strategies, such as remanufacturing, refurbishment, and recycling. The project will develop and assess tools that embed sustainability and circularity into product and production system development, emphasizing practical application.

Become a catalyst for change as a PhD student within the GRACE (Green Acceleration through Integrated and Platform-Enabled Product Realisation) initiative. In this transformative research profile, you will be instrumental in driving forward the integration of product and production development to support the manufacturing industry's journey towards sustainability. With a focus on the green transition, your role will be multifaceted, encompassing the exploration of new processes, knowledge, and support mechanisms for product realization that prioritize sustainability and circularity throughout the entire lifecycle of products and production systems.

Job description

You will primarily focus on research and development in collaboration with industry partners:

  • targeting circular strategies and solutions for managing and sharing information across product life cycles.
  • to identify their information needs and challenges related to sustainability and circularity.
  • leveraging digital technologies, such as digital twins, digital passports, IoT, and sensor technology,
  • contributing to the development of more sustainable products and production systems.

This includes working with computer programming, advanced engineering software, and cutting-edge manufacturing technology.

Information

The employment as a doctoral student normally covers five years, of which four years (80%) consist of full-time studies. The employment is extended annually based on the individual study plan. The salary and other condition is regulated according to collective agreements. Qualifications/Requirements

  • A master’s degree in a relevant field such as Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Product Development, Product Design, or Production Engineering and Management.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with experience in qualitative and quantitative data analysis methods.
  • Skills and passion for practical work with computer programming and prototype systems, both virtual and physical.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with the capability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Proficient in academic-level English (verbal and written).
  • Strong motivation to contribute to research projects aimed at addressing sustainability challenges in product realization.
  • A valid B category driver's license is required as travel will be necessary for work-related activities.

Proficiency in spoken and written Swedish is considered meritorious.
