Project

Many children experience listening and processing difficulties, especially in background noise, despite having good hearing.

The goal of the CLINIC project is to gain insight into the causes of these listening and processing difficulties.

Currently, behavioral research is being used to create profiles of children with listening difficulties.

This is being done both on a large scale within the general population and in specialized centers where children with developmental disabilities are examined.

Such behavioral measurements provide valuable information about how children listen, respond, and process auditory information.

To further deepen these insights, neurophysiological measurements are important, as they offer an objective view of the integrity and functioning of the auditory system.

By combining behavioral and neurophysiological data, the care pathway for children with listening and processing difficulties can be significantly improved.

This helps to more accurately determine the support a child needs and to better tailor interventions to their individual needs.

Close collaboration exists with the Center for Developmental Disorders in Brussels, the University Psychiatric Center at University Hospitals Leuven, and the Multidisciplinary Center for Speech Therapy and Audiology (MUCLA) at University Hospitals Leuven.
