Data scientist (177-24)
In 2025, the Leibniz-Institut für Polymerforschung (IPF) will launch three new platforms in the fields of polymer and material analysis (PMA), applied surface engineering (ASE), and cross-scale polymer processing (CPP) which will comprise the entire institute. The PMA platform combines the advantages of decentralised equipment and a virtually centralised hub of expertise. The ASE and CPP platforms will be implemented to communicate and utilise the competencies and activities in the field of surface engineering and polymer processing both internally and externally.
One of the standout features of the platforms is the establishment of knowledge-based data structures and an advanced e-booking system with an instrument database that will facilitate the seamless registration, tracking, service and exploitation of analytical equipment, ensuring that the platforms are neatly organized and remain at the forefront of technological advancements. Booking and use of available equipment will be easily accessible to a wide range of internal and external users.
You will help to develop and extend the platforms to contribute to the establishment and ongoing improvement of the digital system, as well as the implementation of a new database, which will serve as an interface to Big Data Science. This includes ensuring that the platforms operate efficiently, fulfilling their mission to enhance analytical, surface engineering and polymer processing capabilities and expertise and facilitate groundbreaking research within the IPF.
