DESCRIPTION

Fixed-term contract recruitment of an IR-level agent on the LUE-B4B project: Extraction, identification of biomolecules from botanical resources

Principal Investigators: Cédric Paris and Alain Hehn

Job Description:

The LUE-B4B project aims to set up a research action on the valorization of biomolecules from plants in the botanical gardens of Nancy (sites located in Villers-lès-Nancy and Haut Chitelet– Xonrupt-Longemer).

The objective of this program is to initiate botanical prospection followed by phytochemical characterization based on the selection of around a hundred terrestrial plant species (bryophytes, angiosperms, etc.) present in the collections of the Botanical Gardens or collected in nature.

The samples will then be subject to metabolomic characterization using non-targeted approaches. In parallel, these samples will be prepared so that they can be investigated for their biological activities by the associated laboratories of the faculties of medicine and pharmacy.

To achieve these objectives, we plan to strengthen the research team of the PASM platform by recruiting a fixed-term contract at post-doc level (Ingénieur de Recherche in French system).

• Prospect the collections of the botanical gardens of the University of Lorraine in order to retain around a hundred species to sample.

• Design, develop and optimize extraction methods to extract active substances from plant samples

• Characterize the extracted fractions using analytical methods related to non-targeted metabolomics

• Prepare samples for partner laboratories that will identify potential activities in the fields of anti-inflammation or anti-microbial (potential applications in the biotechnology, agri-food and cosmetics sectors)

• Coordinate research activities within the team, including planning experiments and analyzing results, while promoting collaborations with other laboratories, research institutes and industrial partners. • Ensure project management for the development of products from plant extracts intended for the aforementioned markets

• Ensure the proper communication of results and participate in the continuous improvement of its functions
