Your Responsibilities

  • Independent research and publication activities in the field of global contemporary history; the position holder will be given the opportunity to work on a habilitation thesis or an equivalent scholarly achievement (“second book”)
  • Participation in ongoing research projects within the Section of Contemporary History and development of new research projects in the field of global contemporary history
  • Independent organization and teaching of courses, student advising, and examination duties
  • Participation in the organization of academic events
  • Contribution to the website of the Section of Contemporary History
  • Participation in organizational and administrative tasks, as well as in evaluation measures of the Department of History

Your Profile

  • A completed doctoral or PhD degree with research interests in the field of global contemporary history
  • International research experience in Africa, Asia, or Latin America
  • International record of publications and conference presentations
  • Excellent language skills (German, English, and at least one additional foreign language)
  • Several years of university teaching experience (including online teaching)
  • Experience in public outreach and dissemination of historical knowledge
  • Very good IT-Skills
  • Independence, reliability, creativity and enjoyment of scientific collaboration
  • Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary research
  • Social skills and enjoyment of working with students
  • Willingness to participate in further training measures of the university

We offer an annual gross salary of at least € 70.200,20 for a fulltime position. An overpayment based on qualification and experience is possible.
