The Information Management Institute, Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Neuchâtel, invites applications for a PhD Assistant open position, with an activity rate of 75% to 100%.
Location: Neuchâtel
Starting date: August 1st 2026, or by agreement
Duration: Maximum 4 years, with annual renewal
Salary: According to University regulations
Academic qualifications
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in one of the following fields: Computer Science, Information Systems, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, or an equivalent qualification.
Job description
Teaching: The successful candidate will contribute to labs and seminars for courses offered by the Institute, particularly in computer science and mathematics. Duties will also include student support and participation in exam preparation.
Research: The successful candidate is expected to undertake a PhD thesis in one of the Institute’s fields of competence, such as data science, data mining, machine learning, knowledge representation, ontologies, or information systems.
Profile
Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate a proven interest in research, strong analytical skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, good scientific writing skills, and a good command of both French and English. Knowledge of French is compulsory.

The Institute offers an excellent working environment. As a medium-sized university, with approximately 4,500 students representing more than 100 nationalities, the University of Neuchâtel facilitates close interaction between students and teaching staff.
