The Institute of Information Systems (IWI) – Information Management at the University of Bern, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher (100%) in the field of Digital Transformation and Digital Business. The position is embedded in the research group led by Prof. Dr. Christian Matt, whose work addresses the strategic dimensions of digital transformation, and the responsible design and use of AI in organizations, with results published in leading international journals.

We are looking for an ambitious early-career researcher who wants to build a strong and independent scholarly profile and to publish in the leading journals of the field. The position provides an excellent environment for high-impact research and close mentoring.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop an independent and internationally visible research profile in digital transformation and digital business.
  • Design, conduct, and lead rigorous empirical research, with the explicit aim of publishing in the leading journals of the field, including the AIS Senior Scholars' List of Premier Journals.
  • Take on teaching responsibilities at Bachelor and Master levels.
  • Engage actively in the international research community.
  • Collaborate within an interdisciplinary, international team.
  • Contribute to the acquisition of competitive third-party research funding.

Your Profile

  • An above-average doctoral degree (PhD) in Information Systems, Computer Science, technically oriented Business or Economics, Psychology, or a closely related field.
  • A strong publication record, or clear and demonstrable potential, in leading international journals, preferably in Information Systems or Management.
  • A genuine interest in digital transformation, digital business, and digital value creation in organizations.
  • A solid command of empirical and/or design-science research methods.
  • The ability to communicate complex topics clearly and to work effectively.
  • Very good written and spoken English. Good German skills, or a willingness to develop them, are an advantage.
