Anchored in its territory, multidisciplinary and open to the international, Université Grenoble Alpes brings together the main public higher education institutions of Grenoble and Valence. In association with the national research organizations and the international research facilities present on its territory, it builds its innovation policy on a global scale. As a driving force for progress and a laboratory for initiatives, it collaborates with its many partners to accompany the evolution of society.

A multidisciplinary institution located in the heart of the French Alps, Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) is renowned for its scientific and technological research activities, aimed at providing essential training to students and faculty and at addressing societal issues.

Rooted in its territory, multidisciplinary and open to the world, UGA brings together all the strengths of public higher education in Grenoble and Valence. The institution counts 56,000 students, including 9,700 international students, 2,900 PhD students, and 6,700 staff. Among its divisions are Grenoble INP, Graduate schools of Engineering and Management, UGA, Sciences Po Grenoble School of Political Studies, UGA and ENSAG, School of Architecture, Université Grenoble Alpes, UGA.

In a unique partnership with national research institutions (CEA, CNRS, Inria, Inserm and Inrae) and in association with the major international instruments (ESRF, ILL, EMBL, IRAM, GHML) present on its territory, UGA is building its research and innovation policy on a global scale.

UGA's strategic ambition is to strengthen its leadership in research and education in order to build a major international, eco- and socio-responsible university that:

  • Creates and transmits knowledge and brings together disciplines to collectively meet the challenges of tomorrow and transform society
  • Reinforces its social openness to students and staff, and develops support and diversity of paths
  • Confirms its position as an essential pillar of the region, from the Alps to the Rhone Valley
  • Participates in the ESRI strategy, in France's influence and in the construction of the European Higher Education and Research Area
