Welcome to the University of Manitoba - Western Canada's first university. Founded 140 years ago, and located in the heart of the country, we are the region’s largest and only research intensive university offering over 100 academic programs, including professional disciplines such as medicine, law and engineering.
Our energetic university community is comprised of close to 30,000 students, over 8,900faculty and staff, and 138,000 alumni in 137 countries. Over 16 per cent of our current students are international, representing 115 countries.
The University of Manitoba is located on Anishinabe and Metis traditional land and is home to a thriving community of Indigenous researchers, staff and more than 2,000 First Nations, Metis and Inuit students, including over 3,580 graduate students — one of the largest Indigenous student bodies in the country.
